How to compress images

Choose your photos, leave quality around 70% (it looks the same to the eye but is often 60–90% smaller), and tap Compress images. Lower the max size to 1920 px for websites and email; phone photos are often 4000 px wide, which is far more than any screen needs.

JPG works everywhere. WebP is about 25–35% smaller again and is supported by all modern browsers and most websites. Transparent PNGs get a white background when saved as JPG.

Questions

How much can I compress an image?

Phone photos usually shrink 70–90% at 70% quality and 1920 px, with no difference you can see on a screen.

What's the best quality setting?

60–80% is the sweet spot for photos. Go lower only if you need a very small file.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser, so your photos never leave your device.
